Buffs Pick Up Another In-State Lineman

Many a CU fan was wondering when in-state offensive lineamn Ethan Adkins was going to go Buff, or if he was going to go at all. We got the answer as last night after the Friday Night Lights event Adkins gave his verbal commitment to Coaches Hawkins and Strausser. The BSN caught up with him for his thoughts.

With in-state offensive lineman Shawn Daniels already in the fold, the CU staff had offers out to two other O-line players. Ethan Adkins and Ryan Miller were the two in-state targets left on the board and now it is just Miller as Adkins is a Buff. "It was getting towards the end of summer so I went with the best offer on the table," Adkins explained. "I enjoyed the camp and spoke with Coach Hawkins afterwards and let him know I wanted to be a Buff."

Coach Hawkins wanted to make sure the verbal was solid. "I walked up to him after waiting as he was talking to a couple kids and their parents. I said to him 'I want to let you know that I want to come play football for you' and he said 'none of this soft commit stuff?'. I told him I was full blown and solid. He then called Coach Strausser over and I told him. Strausser was happy and said 'three down, two to go.'"

The Buffs now have two commitments from center/guard types and it looks like the third, Adkins, will definitely be a guard. "They were practicing me at guard in the one-on-ones so it looks like that is where they like me. I am fine with that."

Adkins becomes the third player from defending state champ Douglas County to become a Buff in the last two years as he will join former teammates Steven Fendry and Eric Lawson in Boulder.

Other schools that had offered Adkins, in writing, included Colorado State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Wyoming.

The newest Buff says he will not be taking anymore visits or entertaining any other schools. He has yet to schedule his official visit to Boulder but will do so soon.
