National Top 10 Receiver Schedules CU Visit

Colorado needs a talent and depth infusion at the wide receiver positions. The CU staff is going coast-to-coast to find top wideouts to bring their games to Boulder and play as freshmen. The staff already has a moral victory in the bag as they have landed an official visit from one of the top 10 receivers in the nation.

Mira Mesa is 1-1 on the season with a win over Vista and a loss to Escondido. On the year, Markques Simas estimates he has around 15 catches for 300 yards and five touchdowns.

Simas now says he has 20 offers with the latest coming from a top SEC school. "Tennessee just sent me an offer," Simas explained.

Since September 1st, he has received a plethora of phone calls and the first school he spoke with was Colorado. "I missed some calls on the First, but the first staff I talked with was Colorado. I believe it was Coach Kiesau. When I spoke with him last week he told me how they have not been able to complete the deep ball as much as they want to and they could really use someone like me. I scheduled a visit there for November 3rd (Kansas State).

"I also have a visit scheduled with Michigan on October 6th but I may cancel that one. They already have three wide receivers committed and I may use that visit to see someone else."

Simas is also pretty positive he will schedule an official with San Diego State. "Other schools I am looking to visit are Oregon and Cal. I don't have any favorites right now. I am totally open."

Simas and Mira Mesa take on Torrey Pines, this Friday.
