Behrens is Solid with the Buffs

It is always a worry when you have a heavily recruited player committed and the team he is committed to is having a poor season. With CU commit Adam Tello waivering on the Buffs, the BSN wanted to catch up with other CU verbals and see where they are at with their intentions for Boulder. It seems as if commit Blake Behrens is not one the CU coaches or Buff fans have to worry about.

Blake Behrens committed to the Buffs in July despite some solid offers from programs such as Oregon State, Utah and Washington State. Miami was also close to offering at the time.

Behrens hails from Brophy Prep High School in Phoenix were new CU Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, Mark Nolan, used to coach. This, coupled with the fact that both the CU commit's parents attended school in Boulder, had to do with Behrens choosing the Buffs. "Nolan is a good guy and I can relate and talk to him," Behrens explained. "He is one of the reasons I chose to go there."

Despite CU's poor season--and schools like Arizona State, Cal, Miami, and Washington still after him--Behrens is solid with the Buffs. "Coach Hawkins is a great coach and he is the main reason I chose Colorado. He just needs to get some players in there that fit his system and they'll be back on track. I speak with Coach Hawk and the staff once or twice a week."

The future CU O-lineman has not scheduled his official visit and is not in a hurry to do so. "I visited there unofficially for the ASU game so I was already able to see how the recruiting weekend goes and what the place is like. I haven't set a date for my visit and might not do that until after the season."

Brophy is off to a 3-2 start with Behrens doubling as an offensive tackle and a defensive end. "I am playing well. I kind of started slow the first couple games but I am really getting into a groove now."

Behrens leads his squad against Paradise Valley, tonight.
