Buffs Land a Peach

The Buffs only got a moral victory out of the state of Georgia on the field but they garnered a solid victory off the field. CU landed a huge prospect outside the hedges after an official visit this weekend. Former Georgia commit, Conrad Obi, is now a Buff after a trip to Boulder.

Conrad Obi has been committed to Georgia since March. He has been a long time fan of the Bulldogs and felt it was the right situation for him. As usual with top recruits, other schools do not back off despite a commitment and Colorado took on that attitude in their courting of Obi. It paid off in a big way over the weekend. As the Buffalo Sports News reported in a chat on Saturday, the Georgia commit was in town, he loved the atmosphere, and he changed his mind on where he wants to play ball after seeing Boulder.

Obi is missing his senior season with a hand injury, but before being sidelined, he had 15 tackles over the first four games. He could play a number of positions at the next level. For his squad, he performed st tight end, defensive end and defensive tackle. "I feel I can play a lot of positions," Obi explained. "I am athletic enough to do that."

CU has primarily recruited him for defensive end.

The future Buff was hosted by another defensive end on his visit. "My host was Marquez Herrod. I really liked the family atmosphere that Colorado has to offer. I spoke with some good people and they gave me some good advice and I decided that is where I want to be. The Georgia coaches knew I was going to visit and they didn't stop me. I believe I can play early at Colorado. They are a program that is on the up-and-up. I know Coach Hawkins will get it done there."

Obi was recruited by Coach Bandison. He would like to major in Video Broadcasting at CU.
