Anthony Wright Finds Right Stuff in Boulder

Colorado hosted three official visitors this past weekend, including Compton safety prospect Anthony Wright. Wright liked what he saw and gave the Buffs a verbal commitment after his trip.

Anthony Wright, the 6-foot-2.5, 185 pound defensive back prospect from Compton High School, was one of three official visitors to Colorado this past weekend.

Wright joined CU verbal commits Matthew Ballenger and Anthony Perkins in Boulder for the weekend, where they witnessed the Buffs beat Texas Tech.

BSN spoke with Wright's mother Monday morning, and she said Anthony had "a great visit," to Boulder.

Later, speaking to Anthony between classes at Compton, he confirmed that he has commited to Colorado.

"I feel like I can play there, and it'll be nice to get out of California," Wright said.

At the same time, Wright said one of the things he liked about Boulder is its proximity to Denver.

"They've got the Denver Broncos, professional baseball, professional basketball. They've got everything," he said. "It kind of reminds me of L.A. It's cool, man."

Wright said he didn't plan to take any more recruiting trips.

Wright plays running back and defensive back at Compton. He rushed for 1,020 yds on 100 carries (10.2 yards per carry) and 5 TDs and received 1st Team All Moore League honors as a running back as a junior. He had 51 tackles and 4 interceptions at safety. Also runs the 100m, 200m, 300m Hurdles, and Long Jumps during track season.

Colorado is recruiting him as a safety.

Wright also has offers from Colorado State, San Diego State, Baylor and Nebraska. He took an official visit to Nebraska in September.
