Buffs Land Southern Defensive End

Colorado is looking to take up to six defensive lineman this recruiting cycle and they added their second one of the class a few days ago. The Buffs have now beat Texas Tech twice this year as their latest commit was previously a Red Raider. Read on for the scoop on the latest prospect to become a Buffalo.

Sources close to the situation are reporting that Lagrone Shields is the latest recruit to become a Buffalo. Shields--a former Texas Tech commit--gave the CU staff a verbal pledge last week.

At the Scout.com combine in Oxford, Shields measured in at 6-foot-2, 238 pounds. Colorado plans on placing the Memphis product at defensive end but with his frame he could grow into a D-tackle in time.

He committed to Texas Tech in September, but an official visit to CU changed his mind.

Surprisingly, Colorado's two defensive line commits are both from the south and both had been committed to other teams before deciding on CU. DE/DT prospect Conrad Obi was committed to Georgia before giving Colorado a verbal pledge.

The BSN will catch up with Shields as soon as possible for comments on becoming a Buff.
