Vaiomounga Visiting CU Next Weekend

Colorado will probably try to get 6-10 more players this recruiting cycle. It seems as if the Buffs want at least one more linebacker to make three for the class. A player the staff has been in on for quite some time is Nate Vaiomounga from Corona, California. The weakside linebacker prospect says CU is showing him more love than anyone.

Nate Vaiomounga has helped Corona to a 7-1 record this year. His squad will take on Corona Centennial for the league championship, this Friday. Centennial is undefeated at 8-0 on the season.

Vaiomounga still has a trio offers in Arizona, Colorado and Oregon. "I still really like those three and don't have a favorite," the Corona product said.

He has not taken an official trip to this point. "I am taking my first trip to Colorado next weekend (Nov. 11th). After that, I will probably schedule my trips to Arizona and Oregon."

The Buffs are recruiting the hardest. "I hear from them the most. I speak with Andy Avalos every week and speak with Coach Cabral and Hawkins pretty often."

Vaiomounga is half Tongan/half Samoan and knows about the many players from the Islands on the CU roster. He also knows linebackers Coach Brian Cabral is from the Islands. "He (Cabral) has told me about their tradition there of players from that background and that is good to know. He says that the main thing the players have to adjust to when they get to Colorado is the weather because they are used to 85-degree weather everyday."

The BSN will speak with Vaiomounga after the trip. He says he is fully qualified.
