Gerhart Thinks He Can Contribute Right Away

Colorado needed a Center in this recruiting cycle and got a few players that may be able to fit that bill. The one true Center of the class is Norco lineman Garth Gerhart. After his weekend visit to Boulder, he is as impressed as he ever was with the Buffs and thinks he can play soooner rather than later. He also gives us some scoop on his teammate, Adam Tello, who has been waivering a little.

"My trip to Colorado went great - it was real cool," were the words of CU commit Garth Gerhart after returning home from Boulder. "I had been there before with my Dad but this time I went with my Mom and Adam Tello and his Mom."

The two were hosted by Daniel Sanders and Quinton Borders. The word is that Sanders, currently a Guard, is probably going to switch over to Center next season and another Center possibility, Wes Palazzi, will remain at Guard. That would all but leave the Center spot next fall for Gerhart's taking. "The coaches are telling me I can come in and compete right away and that is what I plan to do."

Gerhart and Norco are 8-1 on the season and could be league champs this Friday if they knock off Corona Centennial. "If we beat them and Santiago beats Corona we will be league champs. If we win and Corona wins, then we will be co-league champs. Anyone can beat anyone in our league. It is a tough league."

The future Buff is not sure how many pancake blocks he has on the season but says he feels he is playing very well.

He and teammate, and Buff commit Tello, have played together for a long time and Gerhart thinks that Tello will stick with the Buffs. "I think he is just fooling around with other schools. I think that he wants to stick with me. He liked it there. He liked the weather because he doesn't really like hot weather."

Tello is visiting Arizona this weekend and Arizona State next weekend.

The Buffalo Sports News is still trying to speak with Adam for his comments on the trip.

We'll catch up with Gerhart again right around signing day.
