McCarney: Colorado played real inspired football today. Obviously, we really had some problems defensively today. Fundamentally, we were about as poor as we have been, which is really too bad. There were a lot of missed tackles and great execution by Colorado's offense … Give great credit to Colorado. I thought they played like a team that's won a lot of games this year. They've been playing hard, they've been playing tough and they've had a lot of close games and they played real well today.
On the Cyclones being affected by his resignation announcement earlier in the week
McCarney: To me, those kind of things are just excuses. We had just as much preparation time as Colorado did. We had just as much practice time and meeting time and they did a better job than we did.
On CU giving Mason Crosby a 65-yard field goal opportunity late in the game
McCarney: He's the best kicker in the history of college football. If he was over on my sideline, I would have given him a shot, too. I've heard he has made 70-yarders in practice, so that's routine for him. We bring out the best against mason Crosby I guess (his four field goals beat ISU two years ago). He's a great player and it's an honor to coach against him.
