Devin Mahina was very impressed with his Boulder visit over the weekend. "It was a great trip," Mahina said emphatically. "I had a good time going around the campus and hanging with the other recruits. My Dad liked it, too."
Mahina was one of four Polynesian recruits to make the trek, all of whom were hosted by Polynesian freshman, B.J. Beatty. "He was pretty cool. I had a good time with those guys."
He got to Boulder on Friday morning since his last game of the season was last Thursday night. Before leaving Colorado, he was able to speak with Coach Hawkins this morning. "He was just telling me about the future there and what it is going to be like - I liked him. I liked all the coaches there. They were very welcoming."
Coach Cabral is after him for the Buffs.
He is visiting Oregon next weekend, UCLA on December 1st and BYU January 12th.
Although they are not in his current top three, do not count out BYU. "Religion is very important to me so a school like BYU would present a good atmosphere. I will visit there in January."
He has also decided that going on his Mormon mission is very likley at this point. "I will probably do that and then come back to college in two years."
The big tight end recruit finished his season with 24 catches for 400 yards and added six sacks on defense. All schools are recruiting him as a tight end. He missed the last game of the season because on Tuesday of last week he broke his finger in practice. "I broke the middle finger on my right hand. Part of the bone broke off and flipped around. Now I have to get a screw put in it so I'll be having surgery."
