Schneider "Spyda" Julien to Visit Boulder

The CU staff has looked at a few JC receivers this class but most of them were mid-year transfers. Since none were signed in December, the quest continues into February and the lone prospect on the board is Schneider "Spyda" Julien from Foothill College in Los Altos, California. The speedster will be visiting Boulder, this Friday.

As a sophomore at Foothill, Schneider Julian had 51 catches for 991 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had one punt return for a touchdown. Julien had 1,200 all-purpose yards between receiving and kick and punt returns. He also had one interception on defense, at corner. He was named first team all-state in the JC ranks and first team all-american.

Julien is graduating in March and will step onto the campus of his school of choice, this summer.

It will be one of these schools; Colorado, Kansas State or Western Michigan. "I can't see any other school getting into the mix," Schneider explains. "Those are my final three. One of them will be my choice."

Julien was still in Manhattan when the BSN contacted him Sunday night and he has already visited Western Michigan (Dec. 2nd). "I'll be going to Colorado this Friday. After I visit there, I will be making my choice near signing day."

He does not have a leader amongst the three. "All three schools have a big need at receiver. Colorado told me they don't have a receiver with much speed. Kansas State's fastest receiver just graduated. I could probably start right away at Western Michigan. I think I could compete for a starting spot at any of the three schools, right away."

Of the three, Colorado has visited Foothill a couple times, Kansas State has take a trip to visit with Julien's mom, and Western Michigan has visited both.

So which school is recruiting the hardest? "I would say Western Michigan has been with me the longest. After them, Colorado is recruiting really hard. Coach Kiesau there told me that they have a big need for me. He is a real cool coach that seems like he understands the position."

The BSN will speak with Julien after the Boulder trek for his thoughts.
