Gilbert Sets Visit to Boulder

The CU staff still has as many as two scholarships to give for this recruiting class but they are not limiting their recruitment to players that they only deem scholarship-worthy. They are also looking at preferred walk-ons and grey-shirts. A potential walk-on player is Colin Gilbert from Tucson, Arizona. Gilbert is taking an official visit to Boulder on February 2nd.

As a senior, Colin Gilbert had 74 catches for 1,005 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named first team all-region, all-Southern Arizona and all-state (4A).

Gilbert has current written offers from Northern Arizona and South Dakota State. He visited NAU last weekend and will see SDSU this weekend. After that, he he has one trip lined up. "I will be going to Colorado on February 2nd," Gilbert explains. "I might also visit Jacksonville University in Florida. If I do not get the offer I want, I may go the JC route because I want to play big-time football."

Big-time football is what he associates Colorado with. "That is the kind of place I want to play and Coach Kiesau tells me they like me as a preferred walk-on. He thinks I have been an overlooked player. I used to have a coach that played under Coach Hawk at one of the schools he was at and he spoke highly of Coach Hawk. That is also an attractive thing about Colorado. Coach Hawk sounds like he'd be a good one to play for."

Gilbert carries a 3.6 core GPA and scored a 1440 on the SAT. He is undecided on a major.

The Buffalo Sports News will speak with him after the Boulder visit for thoughts and reactions.
