Cervino Decision Coming Soon

De Paul Catholic's Chaz Cervino took in the sights at the University of Colorado on an official visit over the weekend. Inside, Cervino tells what he thought of the Buffalo coaches and players and when he might make a final choice about which school to sign with on Feb. 7.

Chaz Cervino is a two-sport star at De Paul and had just returned from his team's basketball game Tuesday night when he spoke with BSN. Cervino starts at guard on the De Paul squad, but he had plenty of energy after the game. That's because De Paul blew out its opponent, winning by 40 points, and Cervino sat out three quarters of the game.

In football, Cervino is a receiver/return prospect. He had committed to New Hampshire in December, but today told coaches at the northeastern school he had changed his mind. That decision came after visits to Division I-A schools Syracuse and Colorado on consecutive weekends.

Cervino holds a scholarship offer from both the Orangemen and the Buffs. However, he would be on a full ride at Syracuse this season, while coaches at Colorado are asking him to grayshirt — sign a letter of intent on Feb. 8, enroll in school in the fall, then be on scholarship beginning spring 2008 — Cervino said.

Cervino said he plans to choose between the two schools in the next few days.

The 5-10, 180-pound Cervino was in Boulder over the weekend on an official visit.

"I really liked it out there. It's a really special place," he said. "The coaches were really great. And the players were a great bunch of guys."
