Where Will Josh Smith Sign?

Josh Smith has been a soft verbal to Colorado for a while. UCLA came in on the SoCal wide receiver with a scholarship offer late in the game, and Smith visited Westwood in January. Smith also holds offers from several other Pac-10 schools. Where does he plan to sign?

Josh Smith will join other student-athletes from Ventura County in a LOI signing ceremony at the La Palma Hotel in Newbury Park Wednesday afternoon. He plans on faxing his LOI earlier in the day, however.

What area code will he punch into the fax machine? 303.

Smith told BSN this afternoon he plans on being a Colorado Buffalo.

"I'm signing with Colorado," Smith said. "I really have a lot of faith in the (CU) staff, and I love the environment. It's how I imagined a college should be ever since I was a kid."

The term sleeper gets thrown around a lot when talking recruiting, but Smith perhaps lives up to that label. That's because he only started playing organized football as a junior at Moorpark High. Before that, he played basketball.

Moorpark High head coach Tim Lins said "he's got very good upside. He's an explosive player, he's got very good speed. He catches the ball well.

"He's going to get bigger, faster, stronger, and as he begins to understand the game a little more, I think he's got the chance to be a really good collegiate player."
