Minnesota OL In Buffs' Picture

Among the official visitors to CU this past weekend was an offensive lineman from Minnesota named Tim Sauer. It appears Sauer is on CU's short list of linemen prospects with signing day two months away.

Tim Sauer played both ways this past season for Rosemount High in Rosemount, Minn., a suburb of the Twin Cities. It's one of the bigger schools the state, which plays in what's considered the toughest big-school prep conference in Minnesota.

"He' was a warrior for us," said Rosemount head coach Jeff Erdmann.

Erdmann told BSN he sent a highlight DVD of Sauer to Colorado in September. He sent it on a Thursday and got a call from the CU staff the following Monday.

Colorado has not yet offered Sauer a scholarship, Erdmann said. But the coach indicated CU told Sauer that he was No. 6 on its list, and that Colorado hoped to take as many as four offensive linemen.

Sauer is currently 6-foot-8 and weighs 263 pounds. He plays basketball, and Erdmann thinks Sauer could "easily way 300 pounds" in two years after concentrating on football. He has scholarship offers from Northern Iowa and North Dakota State.

Sauer played guard on offense for Rosemount this year. He runs a 5.0 40, according to Erdmann, and Rosemount needed Sauer as a pulling guard in its option offense.

"He's a physical kid," Erdmann said. "He's got great pad level – he comes off low and hard."

Sauer is waiting to see if an offer comes his way addressed from Boulder.

"I know he's anxious to see what shakes out there at Colorado," Erdmann said. "He had a wonderful visit."
