Tuioti-Mariner tears ACL

Colorado freshman guard Max Tuioti-Mariner will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Tuesday's practice, coach Dan Hawkins confirmed.

Max Tuioti-Mariner had played in all three games at guard for the Buffs this season, starting against Eastern Washington and West Virginia. Hawkins said the true freshman was injured in non-contact work, becoming the fourth member of the team to suffer a torn ACL since the start of training camp. "We've got to move guys around," coach Hawkins said when asked how it affects the offensive line. Tuioti-Mariner had been in for 165 of the team's 215 snaps this season and was third with 16.5 knockdown blocks. Only sophomore Ryan Miller and senior center Daniel Sanders had more. The loss means redshirt freshman Blake Behrens will continue to start and junior Devin Head will likely be back in the starting lineup after missing one game on suspension and serving in a backup role last week. Redshirt freshmen Shawn Daniels and Matt Bahr will also be available at guard along with walk-on sophomore Keenan Stevens.
