Nottingham back from CU

Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista quarterback Brett Nottingham had some memorable moments on and off the field this week during one of Colorado's seven summer camps. Get inside for more on his trip to Boulder.

How did you like the camp at Colorado?

It was so organized; it was fantastic and really beneficial. The quality of coaches was so great and I got to really work with some fantastic coaches and really work on my footwork.

Did you have a chance to meet the coaches and any players while you were here?

I got to meet some of the offensive line and the O-Line coach; he is a huge guy……great guy. I also got to spend some good time with coach Kiesau (offensive coordinator and quarterback's coach). We mainly ate dinner and talked Colorado football. We talked about a lot of the stuff and the QB position. I had a blast hanging out with him. He is so knowledgeable and taught me a lot about the position (in a short time). I got to eat in his office and hang out with him. That was fun! He talked about the campus and told me how CU is in a great position and the people you are going to meet with put you in a great position to be successful in the future. He also talked about the evironnment at Colorado…..Colorado (Boulder) is a great college town.

I got to talk to coach Hawkins and he seemed like an incredible guy. He is incredibly knowledgeable and I could see myself playing for him. I have heard so many great things about coach Hawkins……..I also got a chance to meet Darrell Scott.

Did you get a chance to tour the campus?

A little bit, I got a chance to walk around. I know they (Colorado) have a good business school and I've heard the locker room is unreal. Also, the view from the stadium of the mountains is amazing.

We're big skiers and we've been to Colorado before.

Did Colorado offer?

No, they haven't offered me a scholarship yet……they are assessing the situation. They are taking their time with the decision but, I think they are close to offering. I have a good feeling and I hope they offer.

Who is showing you interest right now and has it picked up since you started going to some of these summer camps?

Nevada, Wyoming, UC Davis and San Diego State have offered. I'm hearing from UCLA more lately though. I have been getting letters from them.

Are there any other camps you are going to this summer?

I'm going to the Stanford camp this weekend and going to the USC Rising Stars Camp at the end of the month. (Nottingham is also going to look at Harvard at the end of the month as well)

Where do you see yourself playing college football? Would you leave California?

I did see myself in the Pac 10, but getting out of state you get a little more space from your parents and you can learn some different life lesions. I could see myself going outside the Pac 10. It is a new experience and checking out more opportunities out of the Pac 10 would be option.
