Polk finding his way

Redshirt freshman safety Ray Polk learned on the last day of practice last week that he would start the season opener because of an injury to sophomore Patrick Mahnke. He produced mixed results on the field against the Rams and could be in the starting lineup again this week against Toledo. Get inside for a video interview with Polk.

Ray Polk made six total tackles against the Rams, one of which went for a loss. He also had a touchdown saving tackle on a long passing play in which he was beat deep.

Polk said it was a fun day and a tough one at the same time, but he expects to get better.Senior cornerback Cha'pelle Brown said he thought his young teammate did OK all things considered.

"You know that first game in college is a lot different than high school," Brown said. "He's been moved from running back to defensive back, so it's and adjustment in itself getting ready to play defensive back and learning all the coverages.

"We were able to help him out, but with time, he'll get better and better." Here is Polk talking about the experience.
