Whiteside visiting Boulder

Scout.com has learned the Colorado football program will be hosting at least three visitors this weekend. The nation's No. 6 rated middle linebacker is among them. Get inside for more.

Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor linebacker Cecil Whiteside is scheduled to arrive in Boulder on Saturday morning after playing with his team tonight in an important game against Los Alamitos High School.

Whiteside's uncle, Craig Brown, confirmed his nephew remains committed to Cal, but is interested in visiting the Buffs and getting more information about coach Dan Hawkins' program.

Whiteside is a two sport athlete in football and track and field (discus and shot put) and wants to participate in both sports at the college level. So he could be meeting with track and field coach Mark Wetmore and CU throws coach Casey Malone as well this weekend. Malone is a former NCAA champion and two-time Olympian and being coached by him on the track and field side, could be a major selling point for Colorado outside of the football program.
