CU Gets One And Loses One

Buffs get a safety in Chris Russell but lose DT in Ryan Watson.

The Buffs got some help in the defensive secondary but lost one they had hoped would booster the defensive line.

First the good news. Safety / corner back Chris Russell from Nashville, TN. has commited to the University of Colorado after verbally commiting to Tennesse. A chance to get out of the state he grew up in was a factor.

"I just felt that Colorado was the best place for me so I am now committed to them," said Russell. "I can go there and compete for a starting job, I love the players and coaches. I think I related with everyone there better than Tennessee. On my visit, I just fell in love with that place."

Chalk up another recruit signing to the Flatirons.

The 6-3, 185 pound from Hillsboro Comp. High School may play either FS or CB.

But the Buffs did lose a top DT to USC. Ryan Watson, according to his head coach J.T.Curtis, has commited to Southern Cal.

One of the nation's elite defensive tackles felt it was a better fit for him in So. Cal and thus decided to head out west.

Watson, from River Ridge, LA. and John Curtis Christian High School, had 16 sacks last season but could play the o-line at USC.

The 6-4, 280 pound DT was ranked #8 by the insiders.com.
