Buffs in top three

Kirk Poston, a talented defensive end from Houston, visited Colorado a month ago. Since then he has trimmed his list of college choices to three. Get inside for more.

Colorado, Arizona and Georgia Tech are at the top of Poston's list heading into the final two months of the recruiting process for the class of 2010.

While Poston has visited Boulder, he still hasn't visited Tucson or Atlanta, but he is in the process of scheduling those trips. Poston said he hopes to get both of them in before the holidays so he can make his decision sooner rather than later. But if he has to wait until January to visit one of his final three, he will do so and decide then.

Poston, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound prospect, finished his senior season one game short of the state championship. He registered 13 sacks and said colleges are recruiting him to be a pass-rushing defensive end.

CU defensive line coach Romeo Bandison is recruiting Poston, who says he has a gets along well with Bandison. Poston said CU coaches have told him he might be able to play as a true freshman next fall is he comes to school in the summer and hits the right weight before training camp.

"I'd really like to play just as soon as possible," Poston said. "As soon as they think I'm ready. I'd like to play definitely during my sophomore year, but if I play during my freshman year, that would be fine also."

Poston plans to study business in college and said academics are a key component of his decision. He said he liked what Colorado had to offer in that area and he is looking forward to finding out more about Arizona and Georgia Tech.

Poston said the beauty of the Colorado campus stuck with him after his trip.

"I really liked the whole environment and everything," Poston said. "I liked the mountains and how everything looked. I liked the look of everything. It looked legit, like a good school."
