Brock Berglund was hoping he would come home from Boulder last week with an offer from the only Bowl Championship Series program in his home state and the team he grew up cheering.
He's still waiting for coach Dan Hawkins to make that offer, but he continues to love the program.
"They said that they're very interested," Berglund said of Hawkins. "He compared it to a marriage. He said he wouldn't marry somebody just off the Internet. He'd talk to them, bring them up sit them down and get to know them before he offered them a scholarship.
"It's probably going to happen a little later. I'm not sure of the exact time line on that."
Berglund has offers from Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota and Utah and is receiving strong interest from many other programs around the nation after leading Valor Christian to the Class 3A state title last year. Valor Christian will take a step up to 4A this fall.
Berglund said he was disappointed not to get an offer from the Buffs because he enjoyed everything about his visit. He has been on the CU campus many times in the past, but was treated to some inside access he had never experienced before.
"That went real well," he said. "It was just everything I expected."
Berglund says he has no clear favorites at this point, but he also admits he has dreamed of receiving an offer from CU since he was much younger and rooting for the Buffs every Saturday.
"I always wanted to go to CU since I was a little kid," he said. "That would be great. That would be sweet, but I'm not saying if they offer me, that's where I'm going to go. If they offer me, that's just going to be another school I'm extremely interested in. I'm not really playing favorites right now."
