NCAA Dreams In Their Own Hands

It's just that easy, win your last two games and the Buffs should be assured an invition to the NCAA tournament. Maybe not that easy. CU takes on an Oklahoma State team Weds. that is currently tied for forth place in the conference. Also the Buffs leading scorer Michel Morandais is nursing a bad ankle. Story and updated standings here!

If the Big 12 tournament started today, the University of Colorado would enter as the #6 ranked team and take on #11 Kansas State in the first round.

But the Buffs have more than the Big 12 tournament on their minds.

If CU can beat #20 ranked Oklahoma State at the Coors Event Center on Weds. night, they should be assured an invitation to play in the NCAA tournament. Colorado has not played in the tournament since Chauncey Billips led the Buffs in 1997.

The Buffs have a big challenge though. First, the Cowboys (20-7 / 9-5)need the game to keep pace with Missouri. Currently, Oklahoma State and Missouri are tied for forth place in the conference. The top four teams receive byes in the first round.

Secondly, CU's leading scorer Michel Morandais is suffering from a sprained ankle he injured Saturday against Baylor. Morandais did not practice Monday but is expected to play against the Cowboys.

Both items make Weds. game with Oklahoma State a bigger challenge.

On the plus side, the Buffs are not playing on the road! CU is undefeated at home in conference play this season and finish the regular season against the corn of Nebraska Saturday.

If Morandais is not ready to go, point guard Mookie Wright will get the call. Wright returned Sat. against Baylor after missing 12 games due to suspension to score eight points.

Jr. forward Lamar Harris is expected to replace Morandais in the starting line-up if he can't go.

Here are the current Big 12 Conference standngs and the Buffs current stats.
