Brock Berglund knew Wyoming defensive coordinator Marty English was on hand today watching him practice with his track team at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo., and not long after the coach left Berglund's phone rang. It was English telling him he has a scholarship offer from Wyoming.
"I really like the coaching staff," Berglund said of Wyoming. "I talk to coach (Marcus) Arroyo a little bit and now coach English. They're great guys, great men and I think it would be a good place to play."
It is the seventh offer for Berglund, who has seen dozens of college coaches come through his school this spring with dozens more planning to visit in the next two weeks before the end of the spring evaluation period.
Berglund said he is familiar with the Wyoming campus. He attended a family reunion north of Laramie earlier this year and made a point of stopping by the school to check things out.
"It's a good place, great facilities and definitely is a school I'm very interested in," Berglund said.
Once the spring evaluation period wraps up for college coaches May 31, Berglund said he plans to sit down with his family and high school coaches and trim his list of schools to between five and 10 that he wants to visit more extensively this summer.
He said he now has a goal of selecting his college by September.
"We really want to see where all the schools are after the spring evaluation because that is when most of the boards get formed and I'll find out where I am most places," he said.
