Columbine Features Two Talented Lineman

The Colorado Buffaloes could not have imagined starting their 2003 efforts off in any better way than gaining the commitment of the state's top offensive lineman. It will not stop with OL Garrett Collins at Columbine High School, though, with teammate Chris Wood following closely behind in honors as the state's top offensive line recruit.

Head Coach Andy Lowery has ran a very successful program at Columbine High School, but perhaps not one with as much potential success the 2003 squad appears headed towards. The squad will be headlined this upcoming fall by two offensive lineman, Garrett Collins and Chris Wood.

Coach Lowery on Garrett Collins (6'3 260)
"Garrett received a call from Coach Barnett on SigningDay, and knew right then he wanted to play for Colorado. It was his dream to go to Colorado, and his dad, Mike, played for Coach Barnett at Fort Lewis."

Garrett earned 2nd Team All Conference honors last season.

"He is a very good football player. A big strong kid whom moves very well. Definitely a tough lineman that gets after em'. He is a quiet kid, but you can tell he is aggressive out on the field."

Coach Lowery on OL Chris Wood (6'4 285)
"Chris is a kid that has matured a great deal, especially in the past year. He has only played football for three years, and this past season he really started to blossom. He's no longer is just a big body, but he became a big player."

"Chris is another very big strong kid. He has been a dominant state champion. His best playing days are very much in front on him."

Chris is currently receiving interest from Colorado, Colorado State, Michigan, Ohio State and Kansas. He has not received any offers.

Chris currently carries a 3.3 GPA in the classroom.

Other Columbine Notables
Already looking into the class of 2005, the talented lineman duo will be performing for one of the state's top backs. 5'11 185 Logan Wright, who plays at both running back and safety, is expected to emerge as one of the top backs in the state this fall as a junior.
