Yates to Transfer

The freshman from Dayton, Ohio will look for a new home after his first year in Omaha.

Freshman combo guard Andre Yates will not return to Creighton following his first season as a Bluejay.

Yates spent much of his freshman season splitting reserve point guard duties with Grant Gibbs. Yates appeared in 28 games, playing just over five minutes per outing.

The only true freshman to play for Creighton in 2012-13 showed an explosive burst and strong ability to get to the hole when given the opportunity, but struggled to adjust in other aspects of the collegiate game. In his 28 appearances last season, he totaled 18 assists to 21 turnovers. He scored a season-high five points against Indiana State in February.

Between the return of starter Austin Chatman, the addition of Isaiah Zierden following a redshirt season, and the signing of junior-college guards Devin Brooks and James Milliken, playing time may have been hard to come by for the athletic sophomore to-be.

Yates received scholarship offers from Nebraska, Dayton and Cleveland state amongst others following his impressive prep career at Dayton's Dunbar high.
