After going 2-1 in the Duel in the Desert last weekend in Las Vegas, the Creighton Bluejays (6-6) host the Villanova Wildcats (9-1) to open BIG EAST play on Saturday at home.
It will mark the Jays inaugural game in the new conference.
Facing the conference leaders to open conference play won't be an easy task for CU, but after a non-conference slate that featured South Dakota State, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, BYU, Oregon State and Clemson, a tough opponent should be no surprise.
Last season, the Wildcats finished 21-11 and 9-7 in the BIG EAST, which included a trip to the NCAA tournament. Two starters are part of seven letter winners to return from the 2012-13 team. The Wildcats were picked fourth in the preseason conference poll.
VU is coached by Henry Perretta, who's in his 36th season with the Wildcats. He's 647-405 in his career, including 10 trips to the NCAA tournament and 11 postseason appearances in the last 14 seasons. He is one of just 35 coaches in women's basketball with 600 wins in addition to being one of 22 at the division one level to do so. He's also only the seventh coach in the women's game to win 600 games at one school.
