Thomas to visit the Flyers

The state of Indiana is loaded with prospects for the 2007 recruiting class including Steven Thomas, a 6'0 point guard who played for the Spiece Indy Heat this summer. Coach Brian Gregory and his staff have been recruiting in the state of Indiana for a few guards and they seem to have caught the eye of the young man from Indianapolis.

Dayton Insider had a chance to catch up with Steven Thomas to find out what his plans are for the fall and also if he has cut his college list down yet.

"I am going to be in Dayton for an official visit on September 16th. I have already been there a few times and I am looking forward to my official visit." Dayton Insider also asked Steven if he has a final list. "Yes, my list includes Dayton, Marshall, Fresno St., SMU, and Rhode Island. Dayton is the only school that I have set up an official visit with so far."

Steven talked about playing this summer with the Spiece Indy Heat and also talked about where he sees himself playing in college.

"This summer has been a great experience. I went from playing for a no name team with No Excuses to playing for the Indy Heat and feeling like you have a target on your back. I also had the chance for the first time to play with a true big man (Aaron Pogue) and man did it open everything else up. Aaron and I became really good friends this summer and he was a great teammate."

"I see myself playing the point guard spot. I can play some combo but I feel like I am capable of running a team and making everyone around me better. I have played the combo guard spot before but I feel a lot more comfortable at the point."

Dayton Insider also asked Steven about his unofficial trip to Dayton last month. "It was a great time. I had the chance to play with the guys in open gym. My parents went with me and they also enjoyed seeing the campus. My mom and Coach Schmidt really hit it off. They are a lot a like and well mom absolutely loved Coach Schmidt. I guess if they can get mom on board then dad will have to follow."

Dayton Insider will catch up with Steven after his visit to see how it went. Stay tuned to for the latest and best Dayton Flyer recruiting information on the internet.
