Although the feisty point guard was not in action this past weekend with the Illinois Wolves, that did not stop John Moran from working on his recruitment. John and his parents made a trip down to Dayton, Ohio over the weekend and came away impressed with both the Dayton Flyers and the Wright State Raiders.

Dayton Insider had a chance to catch up with John and ask him how his visits went, get his reactions and also see what his plans are for the upcoming weeks.

Dayton Insider: How was your visit this past weekend?

John Moran on Dayton: "Dayton was very exciting. The facilities are great and I really enjoyed the time spent with the coaching staff. Coach Gregory and Coach Schmidt are two guys that I really like. I did not get to meet any of the players as they are just coming back from break, but I still left excited about the visit."

John Moran on Wright State: "That was also a good visit. I did not meet Coach Brownell, but Billy Donlon (WSU Assistant Coach) showed me around the campus. They have a great practice facility that I think is only two years old."

In response to a question where he stands with offers from the local schools, John responded, "Yes, both Dayton and Wright State offered me while I was visiting."

From DI's conversations with John he has a great understanding of his recruitment and knows the direction he wants to take. "I have offers from Dayton, Wright State, Northern Iowa, Eastern Illinois, William & Mary, and Butler." When asked if any one school lead at this time John was quick to point out that after his visit this past weekend both Dayton and Wright State have jumped out in front, but Northern Iowa and Butler are also right there.

John and his family have a busy few weeks ahead of them. This weekend they will be making a trip to Cedar Falls, Iowa on an unofficial visit to Northern Iowa. Over Memorial Day, John and the Illinois Wolves will be back in action at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in North Carolina. The tournament is one of the nation's best and Dayton Insider will be courtside to keep you updated with any and all news from the weekend. To close out a hectic month, John said he will also visit Butler University on June 1st. John noted, "I want to see both Northern Iowa and Butler and then I will a make a decision on where I want to go." All indications are that the plan is to sit down with his family and make a decision upon returning from Indianapolis early in June.
