Paul Williams Verbals

While most college coaches are taking a breath after a long and exhausting month of July, Brian Gregory and his staff were trying to close the deal with a high powered shooting guard out of Detroit, Michigan.

Paul Williams, a high-major, six-foot-three wing from Detroit Renaissance High School gave a verbal commitment to play for Brian Gregory at the University of Dayton. Williams chose the Dayton Flyers over offers and interest from a majority of college basketball teams including Michigan State, Michigan, Cincinnati, Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, and Syracuse.

Williams had an exceptional start to the summer which was highlighted by his heroic, 22 point semifinal effort in Augusta at the Peach Jam. Paul and The Family lost on a last second shot in the finals to the New York Gauchos.

This commitment is huge for the Flyers for many reasons, specifically due to the fact that the Flyers will graduate their premier guard and All-American candidate in Brian Roberts. Williams fills a void which will be left by Roberts due to the fact that he is an explosive wing who scores in a variety of ways. His versatility is a compliment to his exceptional rebounding ability from the guard position.
