Brooks is Headed to the Big East

At times, Rich South senior guard Macari Brooks has gone by the nickname "Mr. Big East." Today he took a step closer to that prophecy by offering up a verbal commitment to a Big East school. Learn more about Brooks in this report.

Macari Brooks arrived on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus this afternoon to pay coach Oliver Purnell an unofficial visit.

The athletic 6-2 guard from Rich South verbally committed to Purnell for the class of 2011 today.

"I'm a combo guard that can play on both ends," Brooks recently told Scout.com. "I can get to the hole or shoot from the outside and I'm clutch. I'm tough on D. I would say my game resembles Monta Ellis."

Macari chose DePaul over interest from Colorado, Iowa, Marquette, and Providence.

Brooks joins fellow Mac Irvin Fire AAU teammate Jamie Crockett in the class of 2011 for the Blue Demons.
