Stanford Downs DePaul in Overtime

ANAHEIM, CA – Despite a season high 17 points from DePaul reserve Jimmy Drew, the Stanford Cardinal rallied in overtime to defeat the Blue Demons 81-74 in the 76 Classic.

Stanford's Jeremy Green led all scorers with 19 points and collapsed immediately after the game. Green had difficulty breathing and received medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.

Anthony Brown contributed with 14 points for the Cardinal. Dwight Powell also had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (4-2).

DePaul fell to 1-4 and went 0-3 for Anaheim to finish eighth in the 76 Classic.

DePaul had four players finish in double-figures. Drew with 17, freshman point guard Brandon Young added 15 points, senior Mike Stovall scored 11 points. Los Angeles native Tony Freeland chipped in with 10 points in his first start of the season for the Blue Demons.

"Our team has been resilient; they try to do what we ask them to do," said DePaul coach Oliver Purnell. "We managed to get back in the game. We rebounded a little better, but we didn't sustain it. We've got to sustain that high level of effort on both ends of the floor. We're still not there."

The Blue Demons return home from California to face the Northern Illinois Huskies on Thursday night at Allstate Arena.
