Game Preview

DePaul (3-4) hopes to continue their two-game non-conference winning streak on the road in Terre Haute on Wednesday night and get to .500 for the season. This will be the first true road test for coach Oliver Purnell's squad.

The Demons haven't fared well away from home after going 0-3 in Anaheim at the 76 Classic last month, but are on a roll with freshman Brandon Young being recognized as the Big East rookie of the week after wins over Northern Illinois and Central Michigan.

They are calling it "Throwback Night" in Terre Haute where ISU will be wearing their power blue throwback jerseys to honor the 1979 Final Four semifinal matchup between DePaul and the Indiana State team that featured Larry Bird.

Unfortunately for ISU, Bird won't be in uniform. Indiana State is 3-5, but is undefeated (1-0) so far at home this season. The Sycamores' wins have come against Texas Pan-American (at the Loyola Classic in Chicago), Oral Roberts, and Buffalo.

ISU did manage to play a close game against a Big East school in Notre Dame, losing to the Irish by a score of 81-72 in South Bend.

Sycamores head coach Greg Lansing is in his first year after former coach Kevin McKenna resigned to take an assistant coaching position at Oregon in June. Lansing was then promoted to the top spot after spending eight years on the staff at ISU as an assistant.

ISU is coming off a 81-51 drubbing at Wyoming in the Mountain West / Missouri Valley Challenge. Through a series of traps the Cowboys were able to force turnovers. Wyoming scored 32 points off of 22 ISU turnovers. That is a statistic that bodes well for DePaul and Purnell's full court press.

There are some familiar faces from Chicagoland on this ISU roster. Former Richards High School swingman Carl Richard is averaging 11 ppg and a team-leading 8.9 rebounds per game for the Sycamores. Senior Isiah Martin, from Morgan Park, contributes off the bench with 2.1 ppg.

Leading ISU in scoring is junior guard Dwayne Lathan (12.9 ppg) and sharpshooter Jake Kelly (12.4 ppg).

Rebounding has been a problem that has plagued the Demons all season. ISU is outrebounding their opponents by a 35.9 to 32.9 margin. Thus, DePaul will need to keep Carl Richard, who leads the Missouri Valley in rebounding, and his mates off the boards in this one.

- Deryl Cunningham is an assistant on the ISU staff. Cunningham played one year at DePaul before transferring to Kansas State.

- The Blue Demons are looking for their first true road win since November 22, 2008 when they won at UIC.

The Last Time

In November of 2008 at Allstate Arena, DePaul walked away with a 75-70 win over ISU. Sophomore Dar Tucker led all scorers with 26 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Freshman guard Jeremiah Kelly contributed with a career high of 11 points and a key steal followed by a layup with 35 seconds left to preserve the win for the Demons.

Sophomore forward Mac Koshwal grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and scored nine points.

Senior guard Jabari Currie also contributed with 10 points on four of six from the field. Freshman Michael Bizoukas dished out a career-high four assists for the Blue Demons.

Guard Aaron Carter led the way for the Sycamores with 19 points. Rashad Reed chipped in with 17 points, while big man Josh Crawford scored 12.
