Crockett Leads Crete-Monee to Sectionals

Class of 2011 DePaul signee Jamee Crockett and Crete-Monee held off a late charge from Bloom on Friday night to win their IHSA regional final and advance to the sectional. In this report, we recap the game, have game video highlights and a postgame interview with Crockett.

Jamee Crockett scored 15 points to lead the Crete-Monee Warriors to a 52-49 win over the visitors from Bloom Township on Friday night to win the championship game of the IHSA Class 4A Crete-Monee regional.

After trailing 43-30 at the start of the fourth quarter, Bloom rallied and managed to pull within one point of Crete in the closing minutes, but could never assume the lead. Crockett iced two free throws with 6.9 seconds to go to secure the victory for the Warriors.

"Jamee stepped up when it mattered," said Crete coach Matt Ryndak. "The bottom line is we got a W, we stayed together, we fought through adversity and I proud of that."

Crete is now 23-3 and ranked 12th by the Chicago Sun-Times. The Warriors will meet Homewood-Flossmoor in the Thornwood Sectional on Wednesday night.
