Crockett and Crete-Monee Advance

Class of 2011 DePaul signee Jamee Crockett and Crete-Monee stymied Homewood-Flossmoor with their defense on Wednesday night to advance at the Thornwood regional of the IHSA Class 4A playoffs. In this report, we recap the game, have game video highlights and a postgame interview with Crockett.

Jamee Crockett scored nine of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Crete-Monee Warriors to a 53-37 win over 16th ranked Homewood-Flossmoor on Wednesday night to advance to Friday's sectional final.

After sitting on the bench in foul trouble in the third quarter, Crockett scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to help the Warriors put away the Vikings.

"The guys know that Jamee is our scorer," said Crete coach Matt Ryndak. "The guys know that Jamee is our leader. When Jamie comes out of the game, everyone's roles change just a little bit. Everybody does just a little bit more to pick the slack up."

Crete is now 24-3 and ranked 12th by the Chicago Sun-Times. The Warriors will meet Thornton in the Thornwood Sectional Final on Friday night.

It will be a rematch of a game from earlier this season. Thornton is one of only three teams to defeat Crete-Monee this season. Thornton beat Crete 57-55 in the championship game of the McDipper tournament in December.
