DePaul coach Oliver Purnell's 2011 recruiting class officially grew to seven members today with the addition of Montray Clemons.
Clemons verbally committed to Purnell following his official visit to DePaul's Lincoln Park campus last weekend.
Clemons originally hails from Baltimore, Maryland and is a former AAU teammate of DePaul's Cleveland Melvin.
"Montray is a very versatile player that gives us even more flexibility with the things we are trying to do," Purnell said. "I believe he will fit with our pressure defense and pressure offense system."
Clemons chose DePaul over strong interest from Auburn and Illinois. Montray had also been receiving interest from Charlotte, Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, and Western Kentucky.
"Montray is 6-8, a face-up four, very athletic, but not as athletic as Cleveland," said Cecil Kirk coach Anthony Lewis, who coached both Melvin and Clemons. "He shoots the ball, he can put it on the deck and take it to the bucket. He's a very, very good player."
Clemons joins Macari Brooks, Jamee Crockett, Shane Larkin, Charles McKinney, and Derrell Robertson in the Class of 2011 for DePaul along with transfer Donnavan Kirk.
