DePaul's Purnell Announces Staff Changes

DePaul basketball coach Oliver Purnell announced on Thursday that Video Coordinator Andy Farrell has been promoted to the team's Director of Basketball Operations. Matt Fleming will replace Farrell as the team's Video Coordinator.

"Andy has done a great job as our video coordinator and his promotion is a director reflection of his work ethic. I am pleased that Andy will continue to serve on the Blue Demon staff," Purnell said in a statement.

Andy Farrell fills the director of basketball operations position that became open when Josh Postorino accepted an assistant coach position at Georgia Tech on April 15th.

Andy Farrell came to DePaul after serving two years in the same role under Purnell at Clemson. Prior to that, Farrell was a graduate assistant at Virginia Commonwealth during the 2007-08 season. At Dayton from 2003-07, Farrell served as the Flyers' head student assistant.

Fleming brings Final Four experience to DePaul. Matt worked under coach Shaka Smart at Virginia Commonwealth the past two years.

"Matt is a welcome edition to our staff," Purnell said of his newest hire. "He comes from a quality program at VCU."

Fleming, who is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Fleming joined the VCU Rams coaching staff as assistant video coordinator in 2009. Fleming was promoted in 2010 to video coordinator after that position was vacated.

"Matt has done everything we've asked of him during his time with our program," said Smart. "There are so many positions that don't get any type of attention, but are vital to our success and his is one of them. He spends countless hours breaking down video tape throughout the entire year as well as multiple other tasks we throw at him. He's a tremendous asset for this program."
