After impressing scouts while traveling with the Howard Pulley Panthers on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring, Kyle Washington has heard from a bevy of schools in the past week.
"Recruiting is picking up," explained Washington. "Vanderbilt, Xavier, DePaul, Marquette, Providence, Clemson, Washington, Syracuse and a lot of different schools are interested."
"I'm really excited over the whole (recruiting) process," added Washington.
There is another school that has shown a great deal of interest in Washington.
Wisconsin, a school that Washington has visited before, was the first high-major school to offer Kyle a scholarship. Washington was on campus recently and left with an offer from head coach Bo Ryan.
"They (Wisconsin) have been interested in me since I was a freshman, and they have done a good job of recruiting me, " Washington said. "I have definitely been thinking about them as they've been thinking about me."
Washington can be best described as a combo forward with rapidly growing skills. Washington can go inside just as well as go outside.
"Versatility describes my game (best)," said Washington. "I can see myself going into the post or (play) on the perimeter. I can go past really big men, or post up a guy smaller than me."
Washington is also fond of blocking shots as he is blessed with a tremendous wingspan.
Washington, who previously prepped at Benilde-St. Margaret's, will be transferring to the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut and will play for coach Fred Benjamin this fall.
It's an opportunity Washington is looking forward to.
"I'm really excited," said Washington. "I have a very good relationship with (Benjamin) and I am very comfortable with him. It looks like it's going to be a good fit, and they are really focused on academics. I want to capitalize on this opportunity."
Washington is no hurry to make a college decision and he will take it all in. For now, Washington will focus on the summer camp circuit, as he will be down at the prestigious Nike Peach Jam tournament among other events.
"I have a long way to go," added Washington. "These next two years will decide on what I am going to do. It will be a fun process."
