Hey DePaul family. The first day of the Desert Duel went well. We won both of our games and will play our 16U team in the Elite 8 next. Life in Phoenix is a lot slower than Vegas. All of our time is spent in the hotel room when we aren't playing, whereas we had things to do in Vegas. Tomorrow we look to knock off our younger guys, win the Desert Duel championship , and finally return to our greatly missed home of Chicago. Talk to you guys later.

Future DePaul Blue Demon Billy Garrett, Jr. pens the second installment of his diary from the AAU circuit. Billy Garrett, Jr. and the Mac Irvin Fire finished 5-1 in Las Vegas at the Fab 48 tournament. The Fire advanced all the way to the quarterfinals where they lost to the Kansas City 76ers. Next up for Garrett and the Fire is the Desert Duel in Arizona. Below is Garrett's second journal entry.

Hello DePaul family. Although we didn't end the Fab 48 as we would've liked, we're going to Arizona with even more motivation to win it all. I appreciate all the support from everyone, and it feels great knowing I have people in my corner. I ask that everyone continues to follow the Mac Irvin Fire as we do our best to bring the Desert Duel crown back to Chicago. Stay Up!

In his first diary entry from the road in Las Vegas, future Blue Demon Billy Garrett, Jr. writes about life on and off the court with the Mac Irvin Fire AAU team.

The Mac Irvin Fire are undefeated through the first three games of pool play over the first two days of the Fab 48 tournament in Las Vegas. Last night the future DePaul Blue Demon guard dropped 16 points on the World Wide Renegades.

The first couple of days in Vegas have gone well so far. We've started out 3-0 with wins over the Long Island Lightning, World Wide Renegades, and D-One Sports. We've been having some trouble adjusting to the altitude and heat, but the more we play, the better it gets. Being on the road in Vegas comes with many distractions such as the Strip. However we have been able to manage both. We look to end this tournament off strong with a championship and go in to the second half of our road trip with momentum.
