Paul White Talks About DePaul Offer

On Tuesday evening, Paul White picked up a scholarship offer from DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell. Even though White wasn't home at the time, he got the message.

"My mom just told me that I got an offer from one of the coaches," said White. "I was honored getting an offer from them. Just that they were interested in me enough to offer a scholarship."

White also received an offer from Wisconsin after attending the Wisconsin vs. Nebraska football game over the weekend.

Paul also has offers from Arizona, Illinois, Marquette, Missouri, and Ohio State. He is also receiving interest from Baylor and Michigan State.

White had quite a summer being named to the 16-U men's national team. However, his run with Team USA was cut short by a finger injury.

"It's a complete honor," said White. "It's been real fun. I didn't make it to Cancun. I ended up suffering an injury that prevented me from reaching that goal."

White will likely get another shot at international gold in 2012, he was recently named to the USA Basketball Men's Developmental team.

White was named to the team along with four other players from Illinois, giving the Land of Lincoln bragging rights over the rest of the country.

"We were saying that Illinois has the best ballers, considering that we had me, Jahlil (Okafor), Kendrick Nunn, Jabari Parker and Larry Austin down there," said the 6-8, 210 lb. forward. rates White as a 4-star recruit for 2014 and ranks him as the sixth best power forward in the nation for his class.

If White were to decide to come to DePaul, he would become the first Blue Demon from Whitney Young since Quentin Richardson.

White and his Whitney Young Dolphin teammates are primed and ready for a shot at the IHSA title this season.

"I feel like this is going to be a real successful year," said Paul. "We just have to continue the momentum that we have going for ourselves. We should be pretty decent. We should be knocking Simeon off their throne hopefully this year. We're looking forward to this season."
