DePaul's Melvin Looks to Lead

Cleveland Melvin led DePaul as a freshman in scoring with 14.3 points per game, tied for second in rebounding at five points per game and also managed to block 1.5 shots per game.

Cleveland's Big East conference statistics were even more impressive with 17.4 ppg and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Melvin received the Big East's Rookie of the Week honor four times during the season.

He was only the second DePaul freshman to earn conference Freshman of the Year honors since Quentin Richardson did so in Conference USA back in 1999.

Melvin, who was the sixth leading scorer in the Big East and was fifth in field goal percentage (52.2%) in the league, figures to be among the conference leaders again this season.

On DePaul's recent European tour, Melvin again led the Blue Demons again in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots. Cleveland averaged a double-double of 23.8 ppg, 11 rebounds per game, and 3.8 blocks per game in four games against professional teams from France and Monaco.
