Game Preview

Chicago State comes into Allstate Arena with an 0-8 record. There isn't a lot of positive things that we can say about this CSU team. It's not like any of their losses were close either. The Cougars closest loss was a 75-69 home defeat at the hands of Campbell.

Chicago State is currently second to last in the RPI ratings. Only Grambling has a worse RPI.

The Cougars managed a 6-26 record last year in former DePaul assistant coach Tracy Dildy's second season at the helm of the program.

Chicago State was picked in the preseason to tie for fifth in the Great West conference. The problem is there are only 6 teams in the league.

So needless to say, the Blue Demons should be heavily favored to win this one on Saturday.

DePaul easily handled Chicago State 114-81 in the Blue Demons home opener last year at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

"I'm happy it's over and I don't have to see these guys for another year," Dildy said after the game.

Well Tracy, it's that time of year again.

CSU does have five new starters this season who are still learning to play with one another. Dildy has been trying to rebuild using transfers from other programs and junior college players.

The Cougars are led in scoring by former Illinois State Redbird Jeremy Robinson. He is averaging 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Senior forward Lee Fisher transferred from Northern Illinois as a graduate student and was allowed to play immediately at CSU. Lee averages 11.4 points and seven boards per game.

Juco transfer Matt Samuels is averaging 10.6 points per game.

Both teams like to get out and run, so expect a high scoring game. DePaul might even break the century mark again.

The Last Time

DePaul routed Chicago State by a 114-81 margin in their season opener in Lincoln Park. The Blue Demons opened the game with a 7-0 run and never looked back.

DePaul had five players finish in double-figures. With starting center Krys Faber in foul trouble, sophomore Tony Freeland came in off the bench to lead all scorers with 21 points.

Senior Mike Stovall contributed with 19 points on six of seven shooting from the field.

Freshman Cleveland Melvin chipped in with 19 points off the bench. Junior Jeremiah Kelly scored 12, had four steals and dished out five assists. Freshman guard Brandon Young finished with 11 points to go along with six assists and two steals.

Christian Wall led the way for Chicago State with 15 points.

The Blue Demons capitalized by scoring 40 points off of 30 Cougar turnovers.

- The Blue Demons are 9-0 all-time against Chicago State
