2012 Center Plans DePaul Visit

DePaul coach Oliver Purnell continues to look to round out his 2012 recruiting class with a big man. While not many prospects remain in the class of 2012, Purnell will have one on campus this week.

Purnell is looking for a shot blocking big man to add to his three man recruiting class of DeJuan Marrero, Durrell McDonald, and Jodan Price.

Norvel Pelle could be that big man. Per multiple sources, the former St. John's commit will visit DePaul later this week.

The 6-10, 210 lb. big man originally committed to St. John's as part of the class of 2011. However, Pelle was one of three St. John's recruits who were declared academically ineligible by the NCAA for the first semester for the Red Storm. Pelle later decommitted from St. John's and has since been working to gain his academic eligibility for the 2012-13 season.

Pelle recently took an official visit to New Mexico State and has received interest from Iowa State, Rhode Island, and San Diego State.

Pelle, who is a big time shot blocker, was originally rated as a 4-star recruit by Scout.com and ranked as the 16th best power forward in the nation. He was ranked as the 79th best overall prospect in the class of 2011.

Pelle was out on the AAU circuit during the spring evaluation period playing for the Buckets Academy AAU program. See Pelle in action with Buckets Academy in the following set of video highlights.
