Morgan Park and Garrett win DePaul Team Camp

They say the third time's a charm. It was for the Morgan Park boys basketball team and future DePaul Blue Demon Billy Garrett, Jr. on Tuesday night.

Billy Garrett, Jr. and the Morgan Park Mustangs won the 3rd annual DePaul team camp championship trophy on their third attempt at playing in this camp.

It was fitting that a future Blue Demon should walk away with the trophy that was handed to him tonight by DePaul coach Oliver Purnell.

Garrett had help from teammates Kyle Davis and Josh Cunningham in their 34-25 defeat of the Orr Spartans in the championship game.

"It means a lot," Garrett said of winning the title. "I'm going to DePaul, so I wanted to take it home. It's my last chance to get it. It means a lot doing it with these guys."

Morgan Park managed to win the championship playing without their big man Xzavier Taylor.

31 high school teams from Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan competed in the camp in what was a good collection of young Midwest talent.
