DePaul Offers Tyquone Greer

DePaul coach Oliver Purnell plans on having a number of scholarships available for the class of 2014. So, he's looking for the best junior talent from throughout Illinois to join his resurging DePaul program. Today Purnell hosted Orr's Tyquone Greer on an unofficial visit. Greer talks about his time on the DePaul campus in this report.

Tyquone Greer figures to be among the top players in Illinois for the class of 2014. On Wednesday, Greer and fellow Orr teammate Marlon Jones visited DePaul's Lincoln Park campus and talked with Purnell.

"They showed me all around the campus," Tyquone said. "I got to watch the team play. It was real nice. I didn't know the gym looked like that, it was real nice. It was my first time seeing them play."

Purnell was impressed with Greer after seeing the Orr Spartans finish in second place of the DePaul Team Camp at ATTACK Athletics last week.

"He said that he liked me," said Greer. "He thinks I'll be one of the elite players that will help take them to the Final Four. He said that he'd make me a student-athlete. We talked about what I do outside of basketball and what I'll do after basketball."

Scout.com has rated Greer as a 4-star prospect for 2014.

This was Tyquone's second high-major offer. The first one came from Providence.

"Having two Big East teams offer me is exciting," the 6-6 wing said.

Greer is also receiving interest from Baylor, Florida State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, and South Carolina.

Greer will be back on the recruiting trail in July when he plans to play with the Mac Irvin Fire 16 and under team in events like the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina.
