Game Preview

The last time the Blue Demons saw Arizona State was in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando last November. DePaul walked away with a 68-64 win over ASU in that meeting.

This time around, ASU is looking for some payback on their home turf.

"Our guys who were here last year remember that DePaul beat us in a close hard fought game," said ASU coach Herb Sendek. "It's obviously a big game, a Big East opponent coming into Wells Fargo. So we're looking forward to having every seat in the house filled and maybe need a couple of shoehorns to get the last couple of people resting comfortably."

While DePaul escaped with a win over ASU last year, the Sun Devils are a much improved team this season. The reason, that ASU is better has been because of the impact of freshman phenom Jahii Carson. Carson is leading Arizona State in scoring at 18.6 ppg and 5.4 assists per game.

Carson likes to get out and run, so look for this one to be a fast-paced high scoring affair.

It seems like every season, ASU coach Herb Sendek is listed as being on the hot seat, but at 8-1 so far this season, it looks like Carson could be a savior for Sendek.

One aspect of the game where Carson may be vulnerable is in the turnover department. Jahii has 48 assists to 37 turnovers thus far this season.

ASU is coming off of a 87-76 win over Cal State Northridge. In that contest center Jordan Bachynski's notched his first triple-double (13 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocks). DePaul is going to have their hands full with Bachynski in the middle.

DePaul is 2-0 in true road games so far this year, but went 0-2 in neutral court games in Cancun, Mexico. That said, the Blue Demons will face their toughest road opponent of the young season in Tempe.

The Last Time

On November 27, 2011 in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida, Cleveland Melvin scored 18 points and Brandon Young added 13 to help the Blue Demons hand Arizona State a 68-64 defeat.

DePaul forced 19 turnovers in the winning effort.

Arizona State was led by 22 points from Keala King and 19 from Trent Lockett.
