DePaul Adds Renard Phillips to Coaching Staff

DePaul men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell officially announced today the addition of Renard Phillips as an assistant coach on his staff.

Phillips replaces assistant coach Brian Ellerbe, who departed DePaul a few months ago. Phillips moves to Chicago from the Washington D.C. area where he has experience as a high school coach and AAU coach.

Renard has made a number of stops coaching prep basketball up and down the east coast including Friendship Collegiate Academy, Arlington Country Day, Progressive Christian Academy, Georgetown Prep. and his alma mater - DeMatha High School.

Phillips also has ties to the DC Assault AAU program as well as Team Takeover.

Renard also spent three months in Lubbuck, Texas coaching at Texas Tech before returning to High School hoops.

Phillips is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute where he was a star point guard from 1998 to 2002.
