McCaw Ready for Visit

St. Louis combo guard Pat McCaw plans on taking an official visit to DePaul's Lincoln Park campus this weekend. Learn more about the senior guard in this report.

DePaul coach Oliver Purnell saw a lot of Pat McCaw while he was playing with the Mac Irvin Fire AAU team this summer. It's that interest that has led to McCaw taking his first official visit to DePaul this weekend.

"DePaul really likes my game," said McCaw. "I haven't seen the campus yet, but the coaching staff is really great. They said that I can fit well into the program."

While McCaw played shooting guard on the AAU circuit with the Fire this summer, he is capable of playing the point as well and is regarded as a combo guard.

"I see myself as a combo guard," said McCaw. "I can play on and off the ball. I can shoot it, I can handle it, I can defend, and rebound. I can do a little bit of everything basically on both ends of the floor."

Pat recently took an unofficial visit to St. Louis University, but this weekend will mark his first official visit.

McCaw is also receiving interest from Creighton, Florida State, Mississippi, Missouri, Northwestern, Wichita State, and Xavier.

Over the summer, Pat's father, Jeffrey McCaw, was named the head coach at Trinity Catholic High School. That hiring triggered Pat to transfer from Christian Brothers College High School to Trinity.

"It was a father/son decision," said the younger McCaw. "After my Dad got the job at Trinity, it was only right for me to transfer to Trinity. I've always wanted to play for him."

For now, the 6-5, 180 lb. guard is pondering where he will play his college basketball next year.

"I'm looking for a school with a good environment and how I fit into the program, and with a good coaching staff," said McCaw. "I'm going to be there for four years, so I'm going have to feel comfortable being in that system, and being around the players, the staff, the school, the classes, and the campus."
