Alexander Names Top 6 and Talks Package Deal

As soon as guard JaQuan Lyle decomitted from Louisville on September 13th, word began to spread that Lyle and Chicago Curie big man Cliff Alexander wanted to team up and go to the same school as a package deal. We talk with Alexander about that possibility in this report.

JaQuan Lyle and Cliff Alexander have known each other for awhile now and have played together on the AAU circuit for two Chicago-based AAU teams Team D-Rose and the Mac Irvin Fire.

Lyle and Alexander remain close, but just how realistic is a package deal involving the pair?

"It's real," said Alexander. "It's just something that we've been talking about for awhile now."

The two have kept in close contact regarding each other's recruitments.

"He's like a brother to me," Alexander said of Lyle. "I've been playing with him since D-Rose and Mac Irvin Fire. We talk about (recruiting) every day."

What Cliff likes about JaQuan the most is the chemistry that the two share on the basketball court.

"He passes me the ball," said Cliff. "I love the way he passes."

While Alexander and Lyle only share a few schools in common on their recruiting lists, Alexander did say that he'd be open to considering new schools. Connecticut and Oregon are two schools that are recruiting Lyle, who Cliff said that he'd be interested in. Lyle just completed an unofficial visit to UConn this weekend.

The schools that the duo share in common are Kansas, DePaul, and Memphis. They are scheduled to visit Kansas together on October 4th, followed by a visit to Memphis on October 18th.

Alexander declined to name a leader in his recruiting process. On Monday, he named a top six of Arizona, DePaul, Illinois, Memphis, Michigan State, and Kansas.

With this possibility of a package deal, both Alexander and Lyle definitely have some things that they will have to sort out.

"We just have to take our time," said Cliff.
