Game Preview

Wednesday's game is the last of a five game homestand for the Blue Demons. After this, they head out on the road for four games and won't return to Rosemont until January 7th, 2014.

This game is the first meeting between DePaul and Houston Baptist. The Huskies are making the move up from the Great West conference to the Southland Conference this season.

Houston Baptist owns a home win over crosstown rival Rice and a road victory at Army so far this season.

HBU head coach Ron Cottrell is a rarity. He's been at the school for 23 seasons now. After 16 years in NAIA, Cottrell elevated the program to the NCAA Division I level.

Sophomore guard Rob Lewis is leading the Huskies in scoring at 12.8 points per game. In the win over Rice, Lewis scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half. He went a perfect eight for eight from the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win for HBU. Lewis scored 18 in the win over Army.

Junior guard Marcel Smith went five for five from beyond the arc and racked up 16 points for Houston Baptist in that win over Rice.

Junior guard Tyler Russell comes in averaging 12.2 points per game. Russell dropped 21 points in the win over Army at West Point. He went eight for 11 from the field in that contest.

Junior center Ricmonds Vilde racked up a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds against the Golden Knights.

The Blue Demons and Huskies have played three common opponents – Southern Miss, Texas, and Wright State. DePaul is a combined 1-2 against that trio, while HBU went 0-3 against those three.

For DePaul, Jamee Crockett will likely be out after spraining his right knee last week.

"He's still sore, it's a day by day thing," DePaul coach Oliver Purnell said of Crockett's availability.
